Travel Florida: Orlando without the Mouse!

So going to Orlando and not visiting Walt Disney World is like going to New York City and not looking for the Empire State Building, or the Statue of Liberty.  If you’re on vacation there, it’s what you do!  But even for the Mouse fans, there’s a lot more to Orlando to explore than Disney.

For example, there’s Sea World, and its sister park Discovery Cove.  If you’re from the city, and especially if you’ve got kids with you, then these two parks are to nature what Disney is to the screen, they’re magic.  Imagine your little one coming cheek-to-cheek with a dolphin, imagine being able to see the natural beauty of the sea such as a coral cove, up close.  Those memories will be with you a life-time!  If alligators are more your child’s thing, then Gatorland is another must-see attraction whilst you’re in Orlando!

Older kids, especially teens might enjoy the wildlife but they’re probably going to want some wilder life on the side, so take them to Universal Studios.  The drawback with this is that if you have smaller kids, you might find that there are many rides that they aren’t allowed to go on because of height restrictions - so negotiate time here with time at the Magic Kingdom where things are designed more for the smaller visitor!  Take a break at the Hard Rock Café between rides at Universal, it’ll cool you down and put you ready for the next adrenalin rush!

Budget your vacation to enjoy at least one supper show on your Orlando vacation.  The Pirates Dinner Adventure and Arabian Nights should appeal to all the family whilst older

Save money by checking out the Go-Orlando card.  If you intend to visit a few of the places where entrance is included on the card, then it’s probably going to help you stretch your budget a little bit further - but make sure you read the instructions as these can be important especially with regard to the supper shows.
