Travel Cruise: Cruise North to Alaska

Published by katieanne under Alaska, Cruising, USA Edit This

When considering a cruise vacation most people instantly think of a Caribbean cruise with a picture of a tropical paradise in mind, or alternatively think of cruising around the Mediterranean drinking in some European culture with the sunset cocktails.  Instead of looking for sand and sea, how about taking a cruise to Alaska on your next vacation?

You’re not likely to see many palm trees (well unless Stanley Park in Vancouver has any), but you are likely to have a stunning cruise that will show you one of the most beautiful coastlines the US has to offer.  It might not be golden sands and emerald green seas, but it will be rugged, natural, wild and full of breathtaking memories.

Whether you decide to cruise north to Alaska, and then fly home - or alternatively fly north and cruise south again, you will experience the trip of a lifetime.   Cruising the Inside Passage to/from Alaska will allow you the opportunity to photograph passing whales, and seals, and perhaps even see some sea otters up close.  The excursions may not take you warm bathing pools, but they will show you small Alaskan towns that are rich in diversity and history such as the native Indian culture in Ketchikan, and nearby Saxham Native Village with its display of totem poles, Skagway where the gold rush miners made their start towards fame, fortune and the history books, and of course Juneau with its ideal shopping set against the spectacular Alaskan backdrop.  Of course what will make your cruise all the more unforgettable is sailing amongst the glaciers at the Glacier National Park - just don’t forget to bring some warm clothing!

Whichever direction you decide to cruise, a travel cruise vacation to Alaska is going to provide you with photographs and memories of a beautiful experience full of the very best that nature has to offer.
