Travel Florida: Everglades and the Keys

If you’re going to southern Florida, then you must visit the Everglades.  You’re bound to be familiar with the airboats that are used to get around in this swampy environment and this is your idea opportunity to ride on one!  There are also tram tours with guides who can explain the environment and wildlife as it unfolds before you.  For those of you who are more adventurous there are canoe, kayak and even bicycles to hire whether you prefer to choose joining a group, or going off on your own.

The Everglades are not for everyone however.  If you hate heat, insects and reptiles, you don’t want to be anywhere near here!  If you love nature and want to see some of the world’s rarest forms of life, then the Everglades are perfect for you.  However you must respect the rules of the national environment as set out by the rangers in any of the parks you enter, in the case of the Everglades, these rules could save your life!

Traveling down to the Florida Keys you’ll find life becomes more relaxing as a slower pace of life starts to emerge.  Follow the road down from Key Largo with its great opportunities for diving and snorkeling - especially at the John Penekamp Coral Reef State Park, down past the Theater of the Seas with its sea lion and dolphin shows, the Dolphin Research Center where you can fulfill a dream of swimming with the dolphins until you end up at the US southern town of Key West with it’s beautiful architecture and rich history dating back to the early 16th century.  If you get as far as Key West, and you love history, then you shouldn’t miss a trip out to Fort Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas National Park’s Garden Key.
