Travel Florida: Miami Nice!

Published by katieanne at 11:33 am under Family, Florida, GENERAL, USA Edit This

If you think that Florida is all about Disney and alligators you’re wrong.  You’ll find plenty of both in the Sunshine State, but you’ll also find a lot of other interesting things to make your vacation special.  One of these is Miami.  In this beautiful Florida city you won’t find the queues waiting to get into theme parks, but you will find lots to keep young and old minds entertained.

South Beach is probably the most well-known part of Miami.  With its stunning Art Deco architecture, popularity with celebrities, and beautiful beaches, this is one of the best parts of the city to attract young singles.  Watch out during Spring Break however when the beaches are packed with teens chillin’ and grillin’ on the sand!

If you require more than a beach to make your holiday memorable, then why not check out the Miami Skylift at the Bayfront Park?  Rising to approximately 500 feet you’ll get a wonderful view of Florida - remember your video camera!  Kids of all ages will enjoy the Miami Children’s Museum where exhibits will keep everyone entertained as well as help them escape from the Florida heat for a while.  Another fascinating museum for all ages is the Miami Science Museum with its hands-on exhibits.  Once outdoors why not head for either Parrot Jungle Island, the Miami Seaquarium, or the Monkey Jungle.   For a little history, take an excursion out to the Vizcaya estate and wander around the mansion built at the turn of the 20th Century -but you should make sure in advance that there’s not a wedding or other private event taking place there on the day you wish to visit.

Miami’s a great place for sun-bathers, shop-a-holics, couples taking romantic cruises out into the bay and families spending quality time together.  Even if you only spend a day or two here in transit from Orlando to the Everglades or Keys, you’re sure to have a wonderful break in Miami.
