Book Early for Best Flight Fares
If you know that you’re planning air travel at busy times of the year such as Thanksgiving or Christmas when the world and his wife are on their way to one hometown or another, flights always seem to be at a premium cost. There’s a way to avoid this however and that’s to get your tickets almost as soon as they’re released by the airline.
Some airlines work on a 6 month advance booking system, others a year. You need to check with your airline how far in advance you can purchase your tickets and then make sure that you have your finances in order to pay for them as soon as these flights are made available for pre-booking.
Most if not all airlines operate some kind of system where the less seats there are available, the higher price will be placed on the ticket. They know that people who want to get home for the holidays will pay the additional cost – and even if they don’t, they can always drop the price again for the hopeful last minute bargain hunters. Another advantage of booking early is that not only should you pay less, but you’ll also be in a good position to request any special seating requirements such as sky cribs, window/aisle preferences, extra leg room, vicinity to bathrooms, etc.
You are probably too late to get the best deals for this year, but keep this tip in mind for next year and work your budget so that the money’s available at the same time as the tickets are offered for sale.
